Park Hotel Ince
Started by: irene (2895)  Report abuse
I know this is a long shot but worth a try. The Park Hotel, Ince, was derelict for many years before being demolished, but there used to be a mural on the wall showing a bowling team and spectators. I believe it was damaged when taken off the wall but does anyone have a photo of it, please, or know how to go about finding one? My friend's Dad was on it and she would love to see it again. I have searched all the Wigan World Album photos with no luck. Thankyou. x.

Irene, Try e mailing chris@shevibowls.co.uk Ask him to put it on his web site, somebody on there might know. The site is called shevibowls.

I am not sure of when but during a refurbishment at the Park, they wallpapered over the mural.
John Kirkup or Bill Belshaw might know but I think it perished when the pub was sadly demolished.

I presume it was during your "Winter break" or they may have wallpapered over you.

Thankyou, fossil and broady. Fossil, if you know John or Bill, would it be possible for you to ask them, please? I just hoped someone might have taken a photo of the mural before it disappeared.

Irene, they were both landlords of the pub and just maybe they have a copy of the picture.
I seem to remember the last people who ran the pub did a refurbish and rediscovered the mural, but the pub closed again soon after.

Tuddy, I have had an email from Chris at Shevibowls and he has put a appeal for info on the mural on the shevibowls website. Thankyou so much for your input into this along with Chris and Fossil. We may not get anywhere with it but we have met some lovely people along the way. xx

I don't know Tuddy but I do know Fossil and he is a gentleman of the highest order. I shall be strolling down Warrington Road in September.
