The council are being investigated by the council.

I wonder what the out come will be.

If you think the council are a bunch of clowns you should have been at the planning meeting today.

Honestly they have not a clue.

Prescott who was chairman is a clone of smith.

By-election in Shevy next week isn't there?

Fairhurt fielding a candidate?

He starts finding fault with Wigan council and runs off to the papers.

Coincidence?

Please don't insult our intelligence Mr Fairhurst,

"Committed to transparency"

Oh the sweet sweet irony!

Posted by: nyce horse (3210) Report abuse
Defending corruption TSK TSK TSK.
I see shevvy PC have started giving awards to leaving shop owners, what a way to get the labour candidates face in the paper.

Given hall's record and her cosy relations with the police, I think if anything, however minuscule, could be planted on fairhurst it would have happened years ago.

SHEVVY VOTERS, DON'T FORGET WHO CLOSED YOUR SCHOOL AND WHO ARE NOW TRYING TO IMPOSE WHAT "THEY" THINK SHOULD HAPPEN TO THE SITE ON THE RESIDENTS.
OH, I FORGOT THEY ARE ASKING RESIDENTS FOR THEIR VIEWS

I'm sure you want another labour councillor who sends out a road works bulletin once a month, and one who is non-existent. Still a mystery why number three resigned.

That statement works both ways Hossy.

Which indoctrination course DID YOU go on, was it the same one as ex-cllr fairhurst?

Posted by: detritus21 (360) Report abuse
With Gareth it isn't yet proved he has ripped off the Ashfield Money where as Mrs Prescott has been proved to claim mileage when not having a driving license.

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
So how many times has he refused to answers questions, put to him by those that donated, how the money was spent?

Open honest and transparent was his catchphrase......wasn't it?

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
The arguement Mrs Prescott had was that the expenses system was flawed and difficult to understand. The system was subsequently changed and she repaid the monies.

So.........on that basis, when can we expect some reciprocation and cooperation from Ex-Cllr Fairhurst?

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
Will he he repaying the money he took under what appears to many to to be false pretences?

Yeah right

Posted by: nyce horse (3210) Report abuse
Allegations versus FACTS, no contest.

I'll try telling the coppers next time I get done for speeding that the system was difficult to understand, I'm sure I'll get off...NOT.

BTW, the question was: Do you think Gareth Fairhurst would have got away with it?

P.S. I see residents parents and others of a village in Cheshire have saved their primary school from closure, only 22 pupils in the whole school. How different to shevvy where the council and it's cronies, the P.C. & C.A. and its three labour councillors took the residents to the cleaners. just to create some opportunity for their developer mates to build houses.

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
You want facts Hoss?

Following the enquiry Wigan council changed their procedures and Prescott handed the money back....that's a fact!

Fairhurst continues to tell lies, refuse to provide accounts or even discuss the issue surrounding his Ashfield campaipgn even with the people who donated and who could vote for him, his missus and his old man next time round....that's a fact!

As for this village in Cheshire, did they have other schools within easy travelling distance with excess capacity and were/are they under the same pressures and in the same circumstances as Wigan council?

Is that a Y/N .....or don't know/GAF?

Your cynicism begs the following question, which school would you have closed and why? Or would you defy central Government, not close any, loose vital funding and allow the education budget to go into the red and see kids schooling suffer as a result

Its all so easy when you are sat behind your PC and full of beer eh Hoss?

I also notice Janet Brown is spreading lies regarding the matter in an attempt to gain votes.....AGAIN. No prizes for guessing who is pulling her strings eh?

Wouldn't it be refreshing for once if Fairhurst could actually say something positive about his posse in an attempt to grain votes rather than rely on the perceived failings of his rivals. Remind us again where he came in the race last time he stood for Shevy PC

People of Shevy, be careful what you wish for

The argument Mrs Prescott had was that the expenses system was flawed and difficult to understand. The system was subsequently changed and she repaid the monies.

She understood the right way.

For her benefit. She only payed it back when she got caught.

Posted by: fireplace6899 (10742)  Report abuse
arguement= Stardelta

CLOWN

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
How else would she have known FP?

Posted by: fireplace6899 (10742)  Report abuse
She has no car and no driving licence.

So how could she thing, that she could claim petrol/derv expenses.

She got caught and should have been thrown of the council.

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
She was driven to meetings in a car she co-owned and funded FP. At the time this eventually was not catered for in the claims procedure, there was nothing to say it wasn't allowed so she believed it was acceptable.

After the investigation the procedure was changed and she agreed to return the money.

I call it a failing in the system together with a genuine misunderstanding, you call it what you like

BTW.....how much was the amount? I heard, (so please don't quote me) it was around £40

Posted by: bridger (132) Report abuse
£354 apparently.

Posted by: fireplace6899 (10742)  Report abuse
Funny how she did not believe it not to be acceptable.

She made sure, she thought it was in her favour.

There was also nothing to say it was allowed.

Posted by: Stardelta (5941) Report abuse
We only know what we have been told, the rest is heresay and rumour FP.

Yes she could have been on the fiddle and yes it could have been a genuine oversight. The only person who actually knows what happened is her. However there was an enquiry which resulted in an outcome that went in her favour

If you want to make a personal opinion it depends if you want to be cynical or take an unbiased and open minded view on it all, not that it matters.

But in saying that, no prizes for guessing your way of thinking eh FP?

Posted by: fireplace6899 (10742)  Report abuse
Have the council ever had a enquiry that did not go in their favour?

If she was unsure why did she not ask for it to be clarified to her?

She just thought I can get away with this.

Posted by: tonker (19028)   Report abuse
I don't know who Mrs. Prescott is and I don't really care. However, looking through the big window, I can see that it probably cost less to pay her the 'fuel expenses', which she wasn't entitled to, as an alternative to 'travel expenses', which she probably was entitled to.
It follows that she might have paid back £354 and received a larger sum in retrospect of the expenses she should have claimed in the first place. With interest at the statutory 8%!

Why don't you accuse her and him publicly, to her face tough guy?

"As for this village in Cheshire, did they have other schools within easy travelling distance with excess capacity and were/are they under the same pressures and in the same circumstances as Wigan council?"
No I don't know. What I do know is this school was saved from being closed when it was under threat using the very same reasons that were used to close shevvy school.

Your council bosses must be proud of you the time you spend on defending them.

P.S. what about the labour P.C. councillors who tried to get their election expenses paid for by the gardening club who receive financial donations from the P.C. let's hear the council speak convoluted answer to that one, my mate Chris said it was because it was a failing of the system.
Election fraud, now have three guesses as to what happened to them.

Tonker, I believe she was entitled to PUBLIC transport costs only so unlikely to exceed a mileage allowance (about 25p per mile/km ? these days ?)

Posted by: John59 (372)  Report abuse
Mrs Prescott I'm led to believe voted to pass the Lanfìdgate planning application because ... are you ready for this ..... it would make her journey from Golborne to Wigan much better !
Undeniably a 'material consideration' that is ... for her at least ... what do you mean that's not a correct interpreatation of the rules.
Well it's another clear example that councillors in general have absolutely no idea what they're doing, don't read planning application objections, and have no scruples either.
That's probably why they're openly laughed at nìby council folk - planners and the like.

If she thin ks that then she is in for a very big shock.

Is she also saying that she will use the spine road as a "rat run"?

What version of Windows are you using, Elizabeth? Windows has a built in 'Magnifier' program where you move your mouse over what you want to read/see, and it magnifies at the top of your screen.

Posted by: PeterP (6145) Report abuse
Elizabeth I use Google Chrome and on the right hand top side of the tool bar there are 3 dots. If you click on these dots and then scroll down there is zoom sign, press the + sign to enlarge the text to any size you need.

By the way, the councillors who committed election fraud were told by the council's legal officer that he thought they had misunderstood the rules, have I heard that somewhere before?, and would benefit from some training.
You couldn't make it up.

Star, I have reported the libelous comments you make and screen shit them too. If you where half as clever as you say you would have seen in the village Green a Barrister report. Labour did get a solicitors letter and the Labour Cllrs had to club together to fight that. I got the apology from them, mind you they then blame it on the Tory candidate by saying they heard it from him.
