Sid Littlers house at Landgate
Started by: fireplace6899 (10462)  Report abuse
Does anyone have any information on the Grotto of Our Lady in the grounds of the above house?

Have you asked Eddie FP?

Is it any wonder that this site is on its last legs.

I ask a civil question about a place at Landgate.

The forum IDIOT who was sacked by the council, then makes a typical council reply.

Come on stardelta tell the truth about your Hindley cock up.

Did you get a good pay off when you got the SACK?

Only a total IDIOT could get sack by Wigan Council.

You really are a JACKASS.

I believe that the Sid Littler in question went to St Peter's School in Bryn. This was prior to WW2.

Your silly smirking is the trade mark of a sacked council employee.

Posted by: Stardelta (5696) Report abuse
And your ranting is the trade mark of someone who has had the pi** taken out of him and doesn't like it.

How can a sacked council employee take the 8iss out of anyone.

O sorry you took the 8iss out of the Tax payer by stealing a living.

For a job badly done.

FP

If you call into the Thursday coffee morning at a Park Lane chapel you may get an idea from one of the older members.

Sid Littler's old house is now Trevor Standish's and it isn't at Landgate!

I know people who have worked for the council FP, for example The right honourable and most gracious majesty his highness.... Mr Sledge, (stout fellow that he is).

But me? I don't and never have.

You keep guessing FP, I will keep laughing

BTW....He applied for voluntary redundancy in the first round of cuts, it was refused. Second time round it was accepted, and he received considerably more of your money

Old Bryn Hall

The original seat of the Gerard family was Old Bryn Hall at Landgate. Brynne Hall became the seat of the Gerard family by the marriage of William Gerard to the daughter and sole heiress of Peter de Brynne in 1250. The estate is now used for arable purposes, although part of it has been used for the Landgate housing development. It has been suggested that the site of the Old Hall should be excavated to find the remains of the house; however, the landowner has dug it up.[1]

So onker is wrong again

Trevor's house (which used to be Sid Littlers house) isn't Old Bryn Hall.

fireplace if you read the history of bryn hall it explains about the hall .the original hall which was in the fields as you know.was a big mound in the field and was investigated by historians and other people and there was not enough evidence to dig it all up .so the farmer was given permission to level it.

The Makerfield Rambler has some fascinating info about Bryn Hall on his excellent site.
There's a photo of a cross.

Was Sid born in 1921?

Posted by: gaffer (5889)   Report abuse
In the 1890's.

I remember in the 1960's walking past Sid Littler's big house and there was always a load of little dogs behind the wrought iron gates, Chiwowa's, Pickaneezes, Poodles etc there must have been fifteen of them, yapping through the gates and one of them only had three legs

Sid Littler also owned Florida Farm, where the R.A.F. camp was in Ashton!
