Well the Yoonions were warned about what would happen if they went on strike, they were warned that if they went on strike, bakery would be shut down, which is what is happening ....

Strikers Didn't Use Their Loaf

They shouldn't have gone on strike ....

Posted by: 1934granadascruggs (1104)  Report abuse
What would have happened if they did not go on strike, Tommy?

Are you suggesting that it would not have shut down. And still be producing?

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (1627) Report abuse
granadascruggs

Of course,,,, the parent company would have said we will leave the Cale Lane site open, because loyal workers have not gone on strike

Posted by: turbo (2071) Report abuse
Its Leyland Motors in a smaller scale all over again. Stupid unions.

Is Lowthers eccles cakes still going

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
The working man has few weapons in his armoury. Negotiation and if that fails strike action. If the management said it will close if there is a strike, they had already decided it would close. The bakery workers were not complicit in the closure.

sad any how

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Job losses are always sad. It's life changing for people and that's why they fight so hard against them, in whatever way they can.

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...But it's sticking together that wins...

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Do you mean loyalty to each other?

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
Yes, of course...And the cause as well.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
You fall way from the mark in the loyalty department. Hook, line and sinker

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...Don't believe everything you hear...

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
I don't. I know you tell huge porkies.

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...The grapevine, silly...

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Oh dear. Which grapevine? The photo of you getting very cosy?

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...I'm always cosy...

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Have you time for that answer yet. I hope cosy is with the right person

Posted by: Pennywise (inactive) Report abuse
Didn't the miners stick together?

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
Solidarity fell apart, methinks.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
How about you answer my question?

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
What a surprise he's run off, AGAIN

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...Why should I run off?

Posted by: basil brush (8791) Report abuse
why would you run off, jarvo?

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Stalker.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Jarvis. Three times I have asked you to answer a question about your remarks in your post about 'It must be strange being in your eighties"
I asked you to explain what you meant by that, twice in that thread you refused and ran off in the end, you did the same last night.

So are you going to enlighten me what that remark meant or are you going to run off again.

Posted by: basil brush (8791) Report abuse
you could always go to the fishergate and ask him

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Wouldn't lower myself, it's a dirty hole. Dirtiest pub I have evert been in, bar none. The time I was in there was to meet someone. He started warbling and we made a quick exit .

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
...I will NEVER tell you now...And the Fishergate, brilliantly hosted by Steve and Joe, has had a total refurbishment and looks fabulous.

BB is right: come up and ask me...And I may explain.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Jarvis you are soooo transparent. You were aiming that remark at me and my husband and grossly miscalculated our ages. You need to brush up on your maths. My husband was not retirement age when the mines closed, far from it. And not one too claim benefits he went out and found a job which paid a lot less money, initially. Time came when one industry after another closed and yet again he was redundant. He found another and stayed there until retirement. I certainly hope we live to be in our eighties and in good health. . You really must try harder.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Just to add, so no edit. You can't re-furnish dirt, has a nasty habit of re-establishing itself at some point.

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse
Watch your tongue, Mother Superior, talk like that cOULD lead to trouble.

I will inform Steve and Joe of your nasty remark...

You're barred!

LOL..... Put away your superiority complex you prune.

Posted by: jarvo (27564)  Report abuse

Posted by: ahcawntspeyk (5755) Report abuse

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
Why? You are his biggest fan, no me. I wouldn't waste the price of whatever it is he drinks.

Posted by: basil brush (8791) Report abuse
You wouldn't take it to him anyway.

Posted by: jathbee (8062) Report abuse
No. Correct I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Posted by: basil brush (8791) Report abuse
