Jets

Started by: dostaf (inactive)

I was recently thinking about firefighting jets.

No, not ^^^^^ that sort.

I mean Firemens' hoses and doings.

There have been a couple of reports in the local press recently featuring quotes about the number of jets used.

Crews used two jets to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters used four jets to tackle the inferno and were at the scene for more than four hours.

Anyroad, I then wondered about the 'currency' of such doings.

Do four 'reel jets' (reel not real ) = one main jet?

The rest, as they, say is history.

Coming soon, possibly sooner: monitors

Another example:

Crews arriving found that a fire involving an armchair outside the property had caused a spray paint can to explode and used a hosereel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.

'One fire engine from Wigan station attended the incident and the crew spent around two hours at the scene, using special nozzles attached to the top and bottom of the chimney to direct water at the flames.'
