I'm surprised they can find any one to drive the train, I thought all the Poles were over here.

HELLO Ena malcup/
I have just been watching your clips about steam train's in Germany and the one in Poland. What struck me was the fact that they seem to be using Steam train's quite a lot. The German one in particular ,which beg's the question why didn't we keep our steam trains to transport our goods like theirs ?? Being an old steam train enthusist i really enjoyed them thank you ena . GB

Found some figures online.

There are currently around 1,500 steam locomotives in many series and gauges across Germany. Of these, around 1,200 can be rolled and around 300 can be operated, of which around 150 are ready for use.

I guess the original operator (Deutsche Bahn, and earlier Deutsche Bundesbahn) still running them makes a difference. (note them still having that water crane as opposed to having to fill from a fire hydrant here.)

Google says UK has 400 ex BR, and 550 ex industrial, but I don't know breakdown into rolling/working/ready as in above list.
