Any George Formby fans mark your diaries there are a couple of events planned for Saturday 26th May 2018 to celebrate his 114th birthdate, he was born 1904.

Formby Double Bill at The Stockport Plaza a 1930s themed cinema. Let George Do It and Turned Out Nice Again. Start times 2.30pm and 7.30pm. The Wurlitzer Organ will play at the start and during the interval. 7 for one film or 12 for both, children up to age 16 5.

Warrington Market are planning to hold a Formby Ukulele Thrash during the day on Saturday 26th May, no further details of the event are available as yet, though I'm sure these shall be published nearer the date.

Not heard if Wigan is planning any events in celebration of our world famous comedian, though Haydock park may well be holding a race again in his honour.
