Notes / message: I have WOOD ancestors from Ashton-in-Makerfield and am trying to find out more.

I know very little so far, in fact all I have is a baptism for my 4 x great-grandmother whose father was a WOOD:

Baptised: 25/03/1810 (St. Thomas, Ashton-in-Makerfield).
Born: 08/02/1810
Betty 2nd child 1st illegitimate daughter of William WOOD, Ashton, hingemaker & Betty SIMKIN d & w (sic) William SIMKIN.

Betty WOOD/SIMKIN went onto marry John COTTAM in 1827.

Just putting my WOOD feelers out there to see if anybody can help or make a connection.
Requiring help with these family names:
COTTAM
      Betty 1810 - 1874
      John 1800's
SIMKIN
      Betty 1800's
      William late 1700's
WOOD
      Betty 1810 - 1874
      William 1800's
