This is dated 7th July 1944.
Adress being sent to is 28 McCormick Street, Wigan.
I am not sure where it has been sent from.
My grandad, Edward O'Leary, who sent this was in the Royal Engineers, Bomb Disposal Squad.
It is a 2 side postcard, I have copied one side, so both sides can be shown together.

Hi Kerry,
Your Grandad sent this post card from Normandy just after the D-Day landings.
8 Base Army Post Office who processed the card landed on Gold Beach near Arromanches on D+9 (15 June)and set up in a barn at Crepon. It wasn't until 6 July 1944 that a 2 way system was established between UK and the Normandy airstrips.
Your grandad would have handed in the card to his unit office, it was then picked up by a Field Post Office who drove it to 8 Base Post Office at Crepon, who then delivered it to an airstrip for the flight to the UK.
Thanks Graham
Thats good to know. My mum thought he was involved in the D-Day landings, but wasn't sure.
