Didn't Les Howard not own the club after Jimmy Foy?

The Norman Evans Show at the foot of the bill, dates the clipping to no later than 1962.
A brilliant comedian - the inspiration for Les Dawson's 'Cissy and Ada' sketches.

Les Howard managed it for Jimmy foy, Ron. He was also running the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra as well. I had many a chat with Les at the Carlton. He once asked my bro' & me to replace the emergency lighting, but we declined.

I remember Les Howard having something to do with the running of the club. !962 was around the time I started going to the club. I wish I had £1.00 for every night I spent in there since then, until it closed. George Chamberlain, who owns the fishing tackle shop in Frog Lane, was the singer with the resident group The Sportsmen. Happy Days<g>

Hi Ron,i think you're right about Les Howard owning the club after Jimmy Foy.Had a word with Keith Wright last friday ,he played in the resident group when it was called the Sportsmans, and he said Les Howard bought the club from Jimmy Foy.sorry about that when you getting a bit older the memory tends to play tricks .cheers keith
