The Chordites were a local group founded in 1958. They played a number of gigs in wigan and district including "Th'Emp", Monaco and were the first group ever to play at The Court Hall.
They were popular in Wigan and Chorley amongst other places and held regular Thursday night dance sessions at West Ward Labour club in Pemberton for many years in the early 1960s.
Band members included Alan Ashurst on ryhthm guitar and vocals, Gordon Urmston on drums, Bill Lythgoe on lead guitar until he left to go to university in London when Jim Bibby took over on Lead guitar. The original bass guitarist was Andy Moyers but when Bill returned from Uni. he took over on bass.

The late Gordon Urmston (drums) is my grandad. I am absolutely desperate to find some videos or just one video of him and the band playing. If anyone has any, please could you get in touch? Thank you.
