They most certainly are little dk !!
Many happy times spent on Ainsdale beach, Mum in the deck chair, Dad with his head under the bonnet of the car. Anne & I contorted with pain from walking on those nasty hard ripples in the sand while looking for some sea water, gritty boiled eggs, oh yes, those were the days !
looks like a racing car judging by the "slick"tyres,,ok fot the roads in them times,,,cos we always had long hot summers wi no rain,,,,,can u still get them shorts an all, like your blue blazer,,,
The CAR, looks to me like a Jowet Van, built in Bradford. It is definately a van, with one back door open. In 1946 I used to accompany my boss's son, Derek Glover to Ainsdale Beach every Sunday in winter, he rode for Wigan Speedway team and then Liverpool. Liverpool team came to practice on the beach and we made a large oval track, marked out with driftwood or anything else that was lying about. It was free to go on the sands in Winter but 6d per car in Summer.
Jowet Bradford Van with a flat twin engine, sounded like the engine was misfiring, top speed of about 55mph.. Firm went into liquidation about 1955.
