The WW2 Memorial for Whelley Secondary School - later Whelley Middle School - is presently housed in St Stephen's Church, Whelley.
I recently added this image to the record on the Imperial War Museum's War Memorials Register (its reference no. on the site is 45423), following the appearance of images of the school's demolition in the Album.
That prompted me to investigate further - and I found more images of the demolition in 2013 on P-a-D. However, the details given on the IWM site are that the building was converted to flats in 1985... which cannot be right because I found the School only closed in 1988.
Comments on the P-a-D images say that the building was used as Poll Tax House after that closure - and prior to its demolition.
Can anyone confirm this, please, so that I can set the IWM record straight?

Whelley school was used as a poll tax office after it closed as a school, but I can't confirm the dates.

When was Whelley Secondary Modern School built/opened ? These Old Boys must have been among the very first pupils.
