I would expect Wigan to have justified making a "special" for the town and its surrounds - but one for the little settlement of Spring View - with very "local" references, like the wagon works (above the shield), as well as the pit brow lass, mines, mine cars etc which you might find for other mining communities?

I used to collect Goss and crested china and had items with local crests, but none representing anywhere as small as Spring View. The items were usually ordered by local businesses to sell to tourists (usually cyclists) who would stay in the area. I remember there used to be a junk/antique shop on the main road in Spring View, where the new estate has recently been built, and the window was full of crested china. I only ever saw it from the top deck of the bus on my way home from work to Leigh.

Ann,the Antique shop you used to pass on Warrington Rd Spring View was owned by Mr & Mrs Lewis I lived in next row going towards St Mary's Church.Once Plasterd a ceiling for them asked me and the bloke I worked for to pick any painting we wanted .He did I was about 16/17 didn't bother .When I see what they sell on Dickensons Real Deal I sometimes wish I had .( never mind such is life )
