Probably taken late 1940's. The fair haired boy peeping around the girl's skirt is, I think, Robert Baldwin.

Carnival Floats.... How many hours were put into making this shoe? This would probably be one of the children's highlights of the year. Riding through Wigan on the back of a lorry. BRILLIANT.. Health and Safety soon put a stop to all that. Get your parents to buy you a £300 X box and stay in playing on that all day.

Ron, this is Ince Carnival. The same yearl I was on a float organized by Alf Close from Ince Pariskh boys Sunday School. It was entitled When Father Painted The Parlour. We won a Highly commended award.Agree that it would be late 1940 's

We played out as kids and we came to no harm
Now even the Church needs a burglar alarm
And the fields where we used to run wild in the sun
Are a home now for perverts and nutters with guns
Where once there were fish ponds with tadpoles and frogs
Now there are houses with Rottweiler dogs
We used to have Playgrounds with See-saws and Swings
Now it's all Druggies with needles and things
And the Woods where we children kicked leaves on the ground
Are empty and quiet now, only Muggers around
We needed our childhood to help us through life
It gave us the strength to face trouble and strife
So what will OUR children do now it's all gone
Now there's nowhere to play and run wild in the sun
