The Last Post at the Menin Gate

Members of the local Fire Brigade have played the Last Post under the Menin Gate at Ypres at 8pm every night since 1928. Many of the Wigan men with no known grave are recorded on this Memorial.
I took this shot on a cold night in December 2005. I was stood among a crowd of a couple of hundred.
On July 9th next year every Fire Station is asked to stage a Last Post ceremony of its own to mark this milestone. See:

I was there many years ago. The 8 o'clock sounding of The Last Post sent shivers down my spine; I have never forgotten it.
