Pictured outside the assembly hall at Rectory school where we used to have band practise. I am the first on from right on middle row. So many happy memories!

I had been gone from DG 10 years at that time, so I don't recognize anyone on that picture.. I do however see a strong resemblance between you and your sister Glenda... She and I were childhood friends in the early 50s, I hope she is well....You may know my youngest brother, Stephen Lomax....

Will be going to listen todays Trinity Girls Band on the 21/2/2014 at Holy Trinity Church, Downall Green, some 40 years after this photo was taken, so well done girls keep it up

Hi Janet, our Glenda says hello, she is fine thankyou and hopes you and your family are too. I remember your brothers Stephen and Roy was it? Hope they are well.
Thanks for your comments Dougie, are the girls doing a concert at Holy Trinity church this friday then?

Comment by: Stephen on 18th February 2014 at 18:55

I have wonderful memories of playing in competition against these girls when at Wigan & District.

Wow! What a blast from the past Kath. I can be seen next to back row, 4th from left, our Elaine on front row 4th from left. Those were the days eh?

Is that Carol Davies stood behind the shield and her older sister Marion 5th from the right behind Carol.

Comment by: Sue Atkins nee Atherton on 18th February 2014 at 22:47

Yes Ann it is Carol and Marion.
Stephen we could write a book hahaha!

Comment by: Janet(FL) on 19th February 2014 at 00:54

Susan I would never have known that was you and I never knew Elaine at all, the one and only time I ever met her was at the RR reunion... Hope all is well with you Susan..

Picked up my ticket this morning for Friday's "Evening of Brass & Song".
Frank Lowe told me over 200 tickets had been sold, plus whoever pays on the door.
Look forward to see some "old" faces.

Hi Janet I am doing ok and hope all is good for you. Depending which year this was I would have been either 15 or 16. A bit of a kid really hahaha!

The late Irene Lowe, third row down, second from left? R.I.P.

Comment by: Sue Atkins nee Atherton on 19th February 2014 at 22:08

Yes Jarvo it is Irene. So sadly missed.

Comment by: Kath Nicholson nee Roberts on 20th February 2014 at 11:19

Just behind Irene to the left of the picture is Carole Atherton, another band member taken too soon ... God bless you Irene and Carole both greatly missed xx

Comment by: Kath Nicholson nee Roberts on 20th February 2014 at 11:59

Sorry just need to verify that Carole is actually on the top row pictured to the left and not directly behind Irene.

Just like to say how much I enjoyed Friday night at the church. The band was brilliant and Tom was excellent.
Good to see people I hadn't seen for a very long time and there are faces I still can't put names to.
There have been a couple of instances recently when Downall Greeners, both old and young, have met up and the vibes I have received are for more occasions such as the Rectory Reunion and an evening such as Friday's event.
By the way, Katherine, tell your Gwynne that he was correct with the "Needham" family.

Comment by: Dougie on 24th February 2014 at 11:15

Eric, I agree with everything you've said it was a good night and the church was full you will know but just letting others know it made a grand total of £2400 on the night, that's two reunions I've been to and are paths have not crossed yet, mybe next time

Yes what a fantastic evening! The band and Tom were just brilliant! It was such an emotional night too for me seeing the girls again after many years. Thanks Dougie and Eric, I only knew about the concert after reading your comments on the photo. Eric, I will pass on your message to our Gwynn and sorry Dougie I don't know who you are.
