No wonder there was no one in Wigan during the first week of July....

A very iconic view, hoards of holiday makers and that never forgotten magnificent Tower.

Forget going abroad for holidays, only for the weather, this country beats them all, and you can trust the British people. Whats better to holiday in Devon with great weather.

I thought it a very bad move for Wigan to get rid of the early July start to the schools' summer holidays.

I have a book about Blackpool in the sixties, full of photos of the time.....girls with rollers in their hair under a headscarf, kiss-me-quick hats, Pablo's ice-cream, toffee-rock stalls, the "Monster from Outer Space-on show as soon as you enter"! I never tire of looking at the pics.

Most of my young life was spent on holidays in Blackpool, loved every minute of it. Don't want to spend time there now though, but my sister and her husband still go twice a year.

I went to Blackpool with 2 mates in 1948. We were 17 at the time, We never saw the beach. It was Olympia, Tower Ballroom and Winter Gardens in that order every day. We stayed at 108 Hornby road in an attic bedroom along with 7 more lads. It was like a dorm!!
