Looks like a Mosrite. They were designed originally for The Ventures who were an American Shadows type group.

I know what it is.It is a stringed instrument. It didn't take me long to work it out.

I think Phil is right. I have looked on the Mosrite USA website and it looks like a Mosrite USA 65-SB.

Well done Phil Taylor, it is a Mosrite. Wish I still had it. I sold it to the lead guitarist in the Dolleys years ago, "big regret". Didn't think anyone would know what it was. You certainly know your guitars Phil

I sold it to the Guitarist out of the Dooleys not the Dollies oops!!

If you look at the body of the guitar it's an upside down Stratocaster.

Comment by: Kenee on 5th February 2013 at 19:06

The body does look upside down. You need the cutaway underneath the neck, not above it.

With all due respect Kenee, hs ga s fabulous, unless you have played one you can't really pass comment on how it's look affects it's performance. However I remember in the 70s when I was buying iy, the guy from SAI copull said, "I've got this fantastic guitar in stock but it looks a little wierd, it looks like it's made upside down". If you ever get the chance to play one you will be amazed. There are lots of Mosrite models I can only comment on the one I had.

I wish I had one. When the Ventures played Mosrites in the 60's they sounded great. Most solid guitars are copies of Stats or Teles but the Mosrites had their own unique sound.

Comment by: Robb Brown on 6th February 2013 at 13:54

The mosrite had a much thinner neck than a Strat and the frets were lower (fast fretted) but although this enabled much faster playing string bending wasn't as good as the Strat

Comment by: Kenee on 7th February 2013 at 12:06

No Robb, the cutaway does not affect the performance of the guitar. The playability of the neck is down to the neck itself and the setup, not the cutaway. The sound of the guitar comes from the materials that the guitar is made from and the pick ups. I wasn't commenting on the performance of the guitar, I'm saying the upside down design serves no useful purpose, unless you play it left handed, suitably strung of course. If the upper cutaway was such a breakthrough, I'm sure other manufacturers would have adopted it rather than the standard.

Hi Kenee, whan I talk about the performance of this guitar I am not talking about the sound I am talking about everything including playability. The design of this guitar's neck does not alter it's playability. Taking your point. Why would Mosrite design a neck cutaway that impared playability and was inferior to most other guitar makes just for the hell of it. Mosrite have all high quality components on the guitar. Even the guitar strap holder pins are branded Mosrite. Wish I still had mine, I'd bring it round for you to try.

Guitar is a mosrite and the great sound came from the Humbucker pickups
