Many thanks for posting. I don't wish to ignore this lovely group photo but my centre of interest are the houses behind, i.e.Clarington Grove where my grandparents lived at number 29. The houses began to be demolished once the Clarington Brook which was culverted underground breached the walls of the culvert and began to undermine the house foundations. Gradually and over a number of years the houses began to be demolished. The brook divided Wigan Borough from Ince, half the street had a made up road, the Wigan section, the other half, in Ince, had an unadopted road and was not tarmacadamed. My grandmother lived in the Ince section and it led down to the Leeds - Liverpool canal. My mother who also lived here in the 1920's, went to Hindley and Abram Grammar School because she was just over the border from Wigan Borough.
David Jordan, top right, absolute. Bet we all look the same 2day as we did back then.
