Bill: You can use the photo anyway you want, be my guest - Paul.
Norm. Nice to hear from you, I've had things wrong with me but am now on the mend.
Maggie. Don't know who you are but thanks for the comment.

Hi Paul,
Great to see this picture. Long time since I saw you - hope you're keeping well now. Are you still living in Appley Bridge? How's Ian? Tell him I was asking. There's not much left of the Garswood we grew up in. I only get there for funerals these days - sad.
All the best,
Roy

Oh look - there's me! I've still got that wig.
I've never seen this photo before, it will be the attic at the old vicarage. Brilliant pic Paul.

"Oggie And The Membranes" what a fabulous name for a group!!

Comment by: Gee H on 24th February 2012 at 12:04

The singer/ guitarist, looks young to have a tatoo on his forearm, what would his parents reaction have been to it, in that era?

Comment by: Ken Eden on 24th February 2012 at 19:19

Alan was the oldest in this group, he was 17 when this photo was taken. I don't know if it was unusual for a 17 year old to have tatoos then, my father-in-law got his when he was 16 but he was a generation older.
It wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment on Alan's family circumstances, his early life wasn't easy.
I will say this: in later years he did a great deal for local charities and he is sorely missed by many who use this site (and many who don't).
See Lankybeat.com under Oggie.

Hi Paul and Ian, I remember when you guys played in the garage at the end of Colliery yard.
Take care David

I remember when these were Lincoln Bond and I pulled that Ian's girl-friend, Barbara Wright. He wasn't pleased but I foolishly dumped her and they reunited. It would 1965.
