I do not think they are cadets. They look too old for that. From the clothes I would guess it is a photo from the 30's or so.
Trisha, What makes you think it is 1930s? If it is 1930s I think it must be late 30s-40s.My father was in St Johns from 1930-1960s.What years did your mother serve? Do the uniforms change through the years,or were they much the same?
Hello again Owd viewer
Its the hats and the uniforms mostly. My Mother's uniform was more modern, especially the hat.. The dark coloured uniform I mean.
My mum would've been mid to late fifties onwards, not sure for how long.
This photo seems to have been taken outside a church... maybe someone will recognise the building.
Just had another look. The white uniforms are different as well. The hats were a square piece of white material that were somehow fixed in pleats at the back of the head with the St John's cross on the front I think the aprons had the cross as well. Have found a lot of names of people who were on the London trip (see the earlier post) I think some people joined the trip as the coach travelled down.. on name is from Staffordshire and they wrote a lot of kind things about a little girl (me!)Wonder if you dad was on the trip?
Tricia, that looks a bit like Anna on the front row , left, with her hands together? She was in St Johns Ambulance.
Hi Dave
Could be Anna but I am not sure. Please let me know if you show it to her. Hoe you are well.
