A few months ago I uploaded a photo of my dog Henry taken in my back yard when I lived in Lower Ince.
A few weeks later I received an email from Maureen Andrews (nee McGovern), who is a regular contributor to Wigan World. She said she had a surprise for me and what a surprise it turned out to be! It was this beautiful painting which she'd done of Henry.
I was completely taken aback and overwhelmed by her talent and her kindness.
Thank you so much Maureen. It was lovely to meet you and your husband Cliff and thanks also to Irene for her help in contacting me.
I thought I'd upload the painting together with the original photo and thanks again Maureen. It's nice to know there are still such lovely people about!

Thank you Margaret for your very kind comments, and of course it was lovely meeting you and your lovely dog,who is so much like Henry..it was a pleasure to do the painting.
Thank you to everyone else for your kind comments.

That's lovely. Margaret, and well done Maureen.....it's beautiful! What a lovely world it would be if more of this sort of thing went on instead of all the arguing and fighting. A lovely, heartwarming story, and a credit to the friendships between complete strangers formed through Wigan World.

What a heartwarming story of kindness and what a talented lady Maureen is.
I still feel like hugging this beatiful dog each time I see him.
What a lovely reminder of your dog you now have , Margaret.
There are not many people like Maureen these days, sadly.

How lovely in this day and age to be reminded that kind and thoughtful people such as Maureen still exist. A wonderful keepsake to have for Margaret.
