my father james Armstrong was working down the mine on that day 12 nov 1932 he was 18 at the time,he received a Carnegie hero commendation and a gold watch for his efforts I believe there were 3 or 4 others awarded

Hi Jeff, my great grandad was involved in the disaster. Christopher mcbride, was the ambulance man, he pulled out the bodies, also for a reward he was given a silver pocket watch with his initials engraved and was kept wound up up until 1991, i got burgled and this got stolen.
