Formed in 1908,the day after Baden Powell had addressed a public meeting in Wigan.Headmaster, G C Chambres announced a troop would be formed forthwith within the School. Official name was Ist Wigan Troop and it was one of the earliest in Lancashire and the first in Wigan. The 2nd Wigan was St Michaels.
