who is the bridesmaid next to the bride

Comment by: irene roberts nee griffiths on 26th October 2009 at 16:38

Her name was Edna, (Hart, I think), and she lived in Field Street, Spring View. Either Edna or her mother made the dresses.I am the little bridesmaid at the front and I remember going for fittings.

hi, Christine, Sally and Bill Gittoes were my aunty and uncle. Sally Gittoes (nee Griffiths) was my Dad's sister. She was a joy and I loved her to bits! Some of the bride's side were from London and a bit posh, and at the reception they were in raptures over Aunty Sally's diamond ring; she basked in all the admiration and told us after it was sixpence from Woolworths!Edna was no relation, she was a friend of Pat's.Thankyou for your comments.....are we related?

Christine, a quick ps.... Aunty Sally's name was Sarah, not Alice. I named my daughter Ashley Sarah after her just before she died and I was told it had made her happy. She did have a sister Alice who died young leaving six children and a sister Annie who was the mother of a daughter Edna, (not the Edna in the photo) and a son George. Cousin Edna has since died.Sally also had three brothers: Bob (my dad), Jimmy and Thomas. Sadly all gone now. Lovely to talk to you.

Irene,
Edna Hart the bridesmaid is Albert Harts daughter(the Albert in the shop we once spoke about in Ince Green Lane). He had 3 daughters Joyce, Mildred and Edna.

Christine, sorry I misunderstood your comment.....I thought you meant Auntie Sally's real name was Alice; apologies. Do you have any pics of your Mum (my Auntie Alice)?

Thats the man Irene, the last time I spoke to him he was living in the hterraced house just beyond theWalmesley, near enough facing Taylors lane, nice to see him again even if it is only a photo, I wonder if he remembers me.

Hello Josie, the lady next to the end with the slightly flared skirt is the bride's mother, Margaret Cooksey from Spring View, but originally a Londoner. The lady at the end is, I imagine, one of the London Aunties who admired my Auntie Sally's "diamond" ring, (see above comments). Our side of the family is on the other side of the photo.

Hi, Aitch.....Colin does remember you. When he moved to Spring View he lived at 2, Taylors Lane with Pat's uncle; Pat's parents lived in the terraced house round the corner from the Walmesley, almost opposite Taylors Lane.
