This is the actual photo that was hung on the wall in the pub vault. The pub was situated where Brocol house now stands. It was a picnic outing to the Lake District (I think) If you look on the back row there is a guy facing the other way. All you can see is the back of his head! That was my Grandad. He was having a wee in the bushes when the photo was taken!!

The big guy on the extreme left is the former Wigan rugby player, Tommy Betham. He played in the first challenge cupfinal at Wembley 1929. Third from the left on the front row kneeling is Les Cherrington the brother of former Wigan RL player Norman. The gentleman on the extreme right on the front row kneeling is Tommy Cherrington the father of Norman and Les. The gentleman 5th from the left on the back row wearing the white shirt is Joe Lee. His nephew Mick, whom I know very well is a Wiganworld member.

Hello again, Anne.
That's my grandad back row in the middle. All you can see is the back of his head as he has got his back to the camera!. Les Cherrington told me that my Grandad was desperate for a wee at the time!
