Fred,have you the names of any players. my uncle John Cadman played for the team. the one first right back row looks a bit like him.
he did tell me that when he played, Willie Rushton's father was in team

The amount of times I've mentioned "Ross Works" (slipper works) on these boards, & not been believed! Thanks for being the 1st person, to agree with me that it existed.Thowt I was gooin' daft..;o)

Instead of Willie Rushton, do you not mean Roy Kinnear's father,also called Roy, who played for Wigan around that time?

My grandad Billy Thomas is the second on the left on the bottom row. My dad always told me that the Highfield pitch was notorious for having really long grass which you can see in the photo. I was also told that the team used the pub at the bottom of either Enfield Street or Tunstall Lane ( can't remember which) to change in.

The scrum half is sammy chapman my mums dad age 22 yrs of age she has told me he was a cracker fast and and strong
