Undefeated all season. Scoring 939 points v. 94 against in 29 games. Geoff Lyon and Jack Litherland signed for Wigan RLFC soon after.

The only person I can identify is fourth in from the left on the back row, the late Walter Bibby. What a phenomenal record this side built up.

Looks like Geoff Lyon played for 11 seasons with Wigan and made nearly 300 appearances, he had a great RL career, whereas I cannot find any games played by Jack Litherland for Wigan's first team. Strange to have such a contrast in what must have seemed like two very promising signings at the time.

Just to add a little more about Walter, or to give his full name Alan Walter Bibby, he went on to play for the very successful Orrell first team when they were riding high in the equivalent of today's elite clubs. A few years later his brother Harold Bibby emulated his older brother by also playing for what was then this top class club, not sure if they played alongside one another.

neddie I might be wrong but the photo I have is brighter than this and I think its Harold Houghton back row far left

Top row, 4th from left is indeed Walt Bibby - my dad! He went on to support the club by becoming commercial manager, introducing sponsors through his business connections (Clarrington Coach & Haulage). His don Steven Bibby, also featured in later years as a successful no 8 - during the era of Dewi Morris etc... Happy days.
