I can remember Tommy Fairclough coming round making sure you had your permit to fish at.nichol lane flash
Also remember Jimmy Edwards the coal man lived on Whitledge Green next door to Mrs Green who was a teacher at St Peters
Jack Liptrot was a deputy at Stones pit and Fred Dillon was the ambulance man and also trainer for the football team there,

Tom Fairclough would always make sure you had a permit, I should know, he was my father. Mr Dillon was Frank, not Fred.
