The Queens Head team, i think they were beaten by rose bridge
back row from left.3rd T Lyon, 4th R Barnes,5th L McIintire, 7th J Hart.
front row. T Ainscough,3rd P Hart, 6th G Birchall
played on the Newtown British Legion field.
were rathbones bakery is now
the Queens Head was demolished to make way for the saddle junction.

Second from the right front row looks to me like Alan Berry(cherry). Could be wrong though.

I lived near John& Peter,when we were kids,they had another brother Gerard, and a sister Winnie.They lived next to Van's cafe on warrington road Newtown.

they also had a brother jimmy, he was a famous wigan wrestler, i cant remember what name he went under though, over to you.

I think the winners were the Bridgewater arms,Len McIintire was the Great Britain hooker at the time.

your wrong jay gee len mcintire only played once for great britain that was in 1963 against the ausies at swinton they lost 50 points 12

Really sorry to announce that Len Macintyre sadly passed away on 25 jan his funeral was held this morning at Wigan crematorium and was attended by a large number of his family
and friends. RIP my old friend.
