Martin, was your grandfather headmaster of Digmoor School.
I seem to remember he was Ernest Alker

Sadly no connection with teaching he lived very close and was there him self as a child. His full name was Robert Ernest Alker. There were a few Alkers in the area and there was quite a few connections through Upholland and Holland moor.
