This Picture is submitted by Jack Glover, (centre row far right) it was taken about 1945 and is of nine member's of Wigan Boys Club, situated in Clayton Street Wigan. Their names are on the photo, maybe someone will remember them. Ken Baldwin and Brian Sharrock opened what was one of the first coffee bars in Wigan, situated in King Street. It is amazing that the photo has survived, but more amazing is that along with it, a video of Wigan Boy's Club member's going to camp at Parbold via boat on the canal, in 1945. (no thought of health and safety in those days) anyone wishing to obtain a copy of the video, can contact myself (Fred Rosbottom) via WW and I will inform Jack Glover, he will be only too pleased to let you have one. His wife went to a great deal of trouble to obtain it for Jack on one of his birthday's.

I was not born when the photo was taken but think this may be my cousin Bill Bretherton who played for Wigan Rugby in the Billy Boston/Punchy (?) Griffiths/Mick Sullivan era.

Hi do you know if there are any photos of earlier years. My dad Frank McChrystal was a member from the beginning of the club he used to be in the harmonica band and he has been trying to find any photos from that time. He did go on holiday on the barge as well.

Thanks Fred I have looked through the photos but from what I can remember they are mostly the brass band which formed later but I will go through them again just in case I missed any. My dad is always talking about the club he used to love going also his brother Arthur went as well. He said that they went to Bingley in Yorkshire on the barge.
