Does anyone recognise this priest? Photograph found among my grandmothers belongings.The photographer is Harrison of Walkden and Little Hulton.

This looks like a young John Heenan later Cardinal Heenan, Archbishop of Westminster. I could be wrong!

I now have discovered this is Dean Francis Oakes who was a cousin of my grandfather Thomas Leyland, Painter and Decorator of Darlington Street East. Dean Oakes died in 1932 in a parish in Manchester. Its what genealogy is all about - I had been looking for information about this photograph for years. The Oakes family originated in Leigh and Hindley.
