Christine
did your dads family have connections with Scholes/Whelly?
My grandad Elias was born 19 April 1875 at 92 Gt George St Wigan. My father and his brothers & sister were born in Woodhouse Lane.
Hi Christine

. My great granfather was Samuel Calderbank b 1872 his Father was Thomas lived in Scholes/Whelly, had a shop,just wondering if Thomas had a brother who was your Great grandfather? so that would mean Samuel and your granfather were cousins{i think}

My Grandfather Elias had brothers Thomas 1871 Joseph 1873 and sister Margaret 1880. His father Joseph born 1850.
Jimmy Baybutt, father of David & Chris' was a member of Hindley Motor Cycle & Light Car Club in the '60 & 70s and both lads rode Grass Track races as members of our Club and both became British Champions. Last time I saw Jimmy he was living at Wrightington and had a large Space Ship looking building on his front garden.
