Taken about 1942, believed just prior to Bill enlisting with the RAF. He went onto to become a navigator based at Blyton, Ingham and Lakenheath on the Wellington bombers. His father William Robert Fowles and his wife Lilian(as above)ran the hairdressers at 135 Darlington Street, Wigan.

Evelyn was Grandad's second wife(Bill's stepmother)Grandad died in January 1965.There is a photograph of the the shop on Darlington St East in the "Work" section under "Shops in Wigan".When did you work there? I vaguely remember Evelyn or "Nanny Fowles" as I called her but I don't know what happened to her after she gave up the shop or when she
died.I would be grateful of any information you have. Many thanks
