Orrrrrrrrrr,What a sweet little boy. Have you still got the watch?
Ov course he has Ron he'll part with bugger all.lol
Would you be standing at the very bottom of Foundry Lane over towards Goose Green? That field on the left of the Church must be what is now the Clevedon Dr estate, where I used to live.
The photograph is taken from the location, round about where the Poacher pub is. You can see the old cricket pavilion. to the left. I would think date wise 1950?
Hi Ron, the building in front of the Church, would that be Highfield school? It seems high up though, but it did have two chimneys.
I was born in 1942 so i think 1944 would be about right. The building near the church is i'm sure Dr Redmond's house that stood between the infants school and the senior school.
Hi David, I wasnt sure if it was the school as it didnt seem in proportion, would Dr Redmonds house be Highfield House? I am SO interested in the history of Highfield and Winstanley, I have been doing a lot of research lately and would be very grateful for ANY info or photographs of the area however trivial!
P.S.~It wouldnt be Clowes would it, looking at the distance between the church and the house? Although Clowes isnt that high up either!
I'm amost certain Dr Redmonds house was Highfield House.
He is still as handsome as he was then. Goose Green girl
this photo was taken on a farm track with "Winky Wood" in the mid background. The stream which ran through the wood flowedpast the May Mill Lodge where boys used to swim in the warm water from the mill.
