George Rigby (c1871- ?)was a loose forward, at first playing Rugby Union for Wigan and Prescott until the split when he changed to Rugby League (Northern Rugby Union). In the season 1894 to 1895 George was cpaped for Lancashire.(Photo from newspaper clipping from George's obituary)

George played in the first ever Wigan Northern Union game at Wheater's Field, Broughton, on Saturday 7th September 1895. The score Broughton 0 Wigan 9.
He went on to play a total of 188 games for Wigan scoring 15 tries and kicking 2 goals.He finished at Wigan at the end of the 1902 - 1903 season.
