I looking for information about my great grandmother Lucy Halliwell. born about 1880, married James Kearsley in 1901, widowed during World War one c1916, Had four children Mary, Lizzie, David and James. Does anyone know them?

J Kearsley, of Westwood Cottages, is on the War Memorial of St Mary's, Lower Ince. His grandson is churchwarden here. We have visited the grave, in the mining town of Loos, near Bethune, France.

I lived in the same street as this family in ashton in makerfield. On the left is (I think his name was) Albert Halliwell the same as his father, next is his second wife name ?, next Alberts sister Mrs Phyllis Phail, next Albert and Phyllis`s mother Mrs ? Halliwell. Albert was a widdower and Mrs Halliwell is holding his daughter from his first marriage Mavis Halliwell, girl in light coat Joyce the sister of Mavis. Girl in dark coat Margaret Phail Phyllis`s daughter.Mavis and Joyce lived with their Grand mother in Legh street. Might I say what a lovely photo it brings back memories

Forgot to add Mrs Halliwell had two other children Rhoda and Frank Mrs Halliwell called him Frances. There could have been others but I do not think so. If I remember rightly Mavis`s birthday was 5th Jan 1948. I used to play with her.

Just been perusing photos on Wiganworld, and saw your comment.

My great grandmother was a Halliwell and, apparently, and her daughter (my grandmother (nee Monks)) used to visit the Kearsleys in Kays Houses, Westwood. The connection is not clear, but thought by my mother and her sister to be some relative of my grandmother. This probably in 1920s/1930s.

On this photo
L-R
Alan Halliwell.
Marion Halliwell (nee Clarke. Alans 2nd wife)
Phyllis Fayle (nee Halliwell. Alans sister)
Lilian Halliwell (nee Webb. Mother of Alan + Phyllis) in her arms is Mavis Halliwell (daughter of Alan + 1st wife Rene)
Front in dark coat is Margaret Fayle (phyllis' daughter)
Joyce Halliwell (Alan + Renes daughter)
They lived for many years at 5 Legh st Ashton, before that Stubshaw cross.
The Halliwells originate from the Billinge/Garswood area. I have done research but cant tie them in with the Halliwells at Ince/Wigan.

Been a long time since I posted this but thank you for all the comments, particularly my aunt Margaret :)
Steve, Lucy Halliwell was not related to the rest of the Halliwell of Kay's. She had three sister and two brothers. Emma married Albert Tuite and lived at Kays, Lucy is buried with them to my knowledge.
Elizabeth married Monks and was living at Kay at time of marriage I believe so this is the connection, younger sister married George Baron, also lived at Kays at some time. Ive plotted the whole tree on ancestry and would love some more info on your family connection. The is a picture on Kays website of Lucy and her children, these would have been the family she visited.
Nadine, I know John is James Kearsley (my great grandfather) older brother on that he married a Elizabeth Swift would love to know about your connection to the family.

Please feel free to have a look and post any memories and photo's you have
