As an ex squaddie I'm intrigued with his cap. How on earth did he manage to keep it on at that jaunty angle? Also, is that a good conduct stripe on his left arm?

I have wondered the same thing myself John D about those caps. Also the stripe I think (I may be wrong) but It may have been for 2 years service which would bring the photo up to the year 1941.
