Well done D'Tease.The area below the signal box in50/60s was known as the acid tip and was used to dump any industrial just straight into the water.The area in the foreground was for domestic waste.On the other side of the railway embankments were several waters,the Big Vee,theFlash,Johnsons flash,Mellings and loads more pitrucks.Never thought I would see photos of this area . Thanks Oz
Aye Pw, that small patch of land that was De Trafford farm was probably the only area left untouched by industry, opencasting and tipping between Liverpool road and Ince. And even that was later tipped on I think.
Chris, you are correct.All this land was tipped on ,nearly to the top of the railway embankment.They also tipped on the pit rucks
