Dennis - Rouen is on the Seine, and was miles from the front line. Albert was probably evacuated to one of the hospitals there after being wounded and gassed. By September 1918 the Allies had repulsed the German offensive and were driving them back to the Hindenburg Line - well to the east of Rouen.
If you know what regiment he was with you can Google to find out which engagement he was involved in.
Dennis, Do you know where Foggs Lane used to be in Platt Bridge .Does anyone know .Never come across that one .Interesting.
I think it was a continuation of Millers Lane, I had a distant relative at Foggs Farm
I new of fogsfold I think
There was a Fogg's lane in Platt Bridge. It ran west off Walthew Lane/Warrington Road and and led to Fogg's Fold and on to Ince sewage works. It starts on OS map 94.13 (1906) and continues on OS map 93.16 (1907).
Rev Long, the information comes from his Army Service Record and, not being an expert in these things I may well have misunderstood. Many thanks for your input.
Colin, the Foggs Lane address comes from the same source and is repeated more than once so I presume it is correct. I don't know Platt Bridge well enough to to say where it is or was.
Copy and paste.

Colin ,I'm almost sure fogs fold as I knew it was a continuation of Vitoria rd it was a dirt path witde enough for a car that came to a row of cottages on the left and a farm on the right that I knew in the early 1960s as burrows farm .
this is the first photo I recall seeing of my Grandfather. He was in the Royal Artillery on heavy guns, and about four miles from the front when he was gassed. I visit his grave a couple of times a year as my mothers ashes were placed in it.
