Lovely photograph. Robin, what relation are you to any of the guests?

This is my parents' wedding photo. It also contains two grandparents, three aunts, two uncles and one cousin.

Oh how lovely! I love forties fashions! Everyone looks so smart!

A fine photo Robin. Strange as it may seem my mother’s grandparents were married here exactly 50 years earlier in 1891. Her paternal grandmother was named Josephine Lee and lived in Shaw Road, Swinley (in the earliest Census returns the name was given as Leigh but at some point “changed” to Lee).

I love to see these war-time wedding pictures. There is always an interesting story to be told behind them. The young officers perhaps having difficulty getting leave and all the preparations being done beforehand again with difficulty because of the scarcity of all things associated with weddings. It looks as if everything turned out we'll anyway.
The bride and groom look so young and fresh faced!

Keith, spelling and pronunciation of my name has always been an issue- I'm not surprised Leigh was changed to Lee, but who knows whether is was accident or design. Rhyming with 'weigh' is not socially acceptable (!).
Also, credit is due to Mike Leigh (age 4 in photo) for preserving a digital copy of the photo; I do not have an original print; and there are three of my uncles, not two.
