he was our coal man, my dad said that Albert wanted a lift putting up a shed beside the canal so I went, I remember that it was a long day, and we had tea when it went dark, we had lobbies good too, I think he gave me half a crown for helping him, I think I was round about 13yrs old, approx 1964.
That's him, the coal man from Battersby Street. Never seen him before with out his berry on his head. Can anyone identify the car in the middle of the mini and Rover?
Many thanks Cordyline.
Garry, Ask the man from Fords he might tell you?
It's not a Ford, Garry. Looks very much like a Opel Manta from 1970s. Interesting to know, if that's his old coal wagon behind him.
I'd say the car was an Opel Manta about 1970. My mate had one the same colour.
My mate who knows a bit about old cars says it is an
Opel Manta A 72/74
I took the photo of Albert around 1976
I can't remember about the lorry chassis
At that time Albert delivered coal with his Morris Minor van
The Renault 12 had a body shape very similar to the Opel,I believe this is an Opel though,I don't remember a 12 this colour.
