Albert is this Brian Johnson who later joined Lancs Constabulary, and retired from Greater Manchester Police? It does look very much like him.
If so, I worked with him and knew him well.
Albert,
do you have any knowledgewhere he lived at the time he joined up.Somewhere at the back of my mind I recall a Brian Johnson who lived for a while with his elderly aunts,Dickens, in Railway Street Springfield could this be him ?
Mick. Yes you are correct. It is many years since I last saw him, I called at Wigan Police Station, on one occasion, and I have not seen him since. I do believe at that time he was the custody officer. Orrellite. I did not know a great deal, relating to his personal background, although at the time I knew him, I am almost certain he lived with his relations. He came to my mother's on several occasions, but I never visited, where he lived. After R.A.F. West Kirby, we went our different ways. We kept in touch for a couple of years afterwards.
Good picture. When men were men - and bikes were bikes.
Albert - sadly Brian died nine or ten years ago.
During the latter years of his service he was on the court staff. After retirement, he and his wife moved to UpHolland.
Thank you Mick for that information, I did not know, as I had lost contact with him, a long time ago. May he, "Rest in Peace".
Thanks for that very interesting input Mick.
I first looked at the picture which I didn't connect with and then reading your comments realised that I also remember Brian when he worked on the court staff.
Maybe his picture could be put on the police section? Most of our colleagues would recognise him on there.
Mick. As Dave suggests, it is alright as far as I'm concerned.
Early '50's BSA A10, 'Golden Flash' 650cc motorcycle that also came, as in the picture, in black & chrome.
