At aged 26 Molly Riley won the festival of Britain award, she was chosen by the Cohen and wilks clothing factories as their charm queen for 1961 . There were five factories taking part from the wigan area and Molly was chosen from 8 finalists, Molly was presented with a crown piece.

I have a crown piece which was given to me by my grandfather after he had visited the Festival of Britain in 1951
