hello bill, just been looking through my copy of an early 1920 s street census, living at 40 bird street at that time was a james birchall, .... labourer, i was brought up in hook street, the little street half way up bird street,i remember a derek birchall, any relation.

Kam,,,,,,,no, the Birchall's not directly related but he married a Rutter and we got Rutter's on our family tree

I've just realised this may not be ROBERT BIRCHALL,,,,,THE NAME R.B. IS ON THE BACK OF A PHOTO TOGETHER WITH 40.BIRD STREET INCE ( POST CARD ), SO IF ANYONE recognizes THESE PEOPLE I'D BE MUCH OBLIGED

Bill, robert rutter railway fireman lived at 79 bird street, at the same time james birchall was in bird street, any relation there

This is my uncle Robert (Bob) and my auntie Elizabeth (Eliza)they lived in Peel St ,Bob worked in the pit at Parsonage and was known as Black Bob

Kam they are family ,Bobs wife Elizabeth Rutter, Robert Rutter was her uncle

Ken,....When i was growing up in the 50s, Rutters still lived in bird street, i remember one mr rutter was an usher at the courts in wigan, is it the same family

Marie they were the same family 24 Peel St and i was not lisa her name was Elizabeth but they called her Liza ,she died at the age of 49 .They had 5 chilren Edith,William,mildred,walter and mary .
Kam I just don't know about your story something to look at

I think it was a Bob Rutter, not sure of his first name though it sounds right, he was an older man when i was little, think he worked on the railroad when he was younger, only worked as a court usher when he retired, the family all had red hair, they lived next door to harry and eunice jones in Bird st.
