kath did they live in ince as i might be wrong but the church looks like st williams ?

Kath the photo looks like the 1940's.

The Lancashire BMD site doesn't show any marriages for the late 30's, 40's and early 50's between Lee and Stringfellow but it shows shows Harold Lee marrying Ethel Stringfellow and Thomas Lee marying Florence Stringfellow in 1924 at Wigan Register Office.

Thanks Josie, but I have no idea where the church is, possibly St Maries, Standish, or maybe St Stephen's Whelley. If someone could recognise the church, I could narrow down who the couple may be.
Thanks Graham, It could be that it isn't a Lee/Stringfellow marriage after all, unless the church is St Marie's in Standish, where both Harold and Thomas married. They were both my uncles, but I never met them, so, I don't know what they looked like.

Graham - if it is a Catholic wedding it will be entered as 'Reg office or Reg attended', the registrar would be at the Church, I have several of these in my family tree and tracked the marriages to (usually) St. John's Wigan or St. Pats. It would be really handy if LBMD put the church name.

We must be vaguely related as the two Stringfellow's that married your uncles were my Dad's aunties. I have Ethel Stringfellow married Harold Lee in 1924 and Thomas Lee married Florence Lee in 1924. Not sure whether these are them though as I'm sure that it isn't St Maries Church. St Maries has a red brick surround to the door and not as much stone as in this pic. Also unless the door has been changed St Maries church door is made of long vertical planks rather than the one in the pic. If you do find out that I am wrong and the wedding is one of the Stringfellow's let me know.

P.S I have tried doing a bit of a family tree and if you have any info about the children of Harold/Ethel and Thomas/Florence that you wouldn't mind sharing I'd be grateful. The only info I have about Harold is that he lost a leg in an industrial accident at the Lino works in Appley Bridge and Thomas was a good ice skater.

Is the church St Joseph's Wrightington?

Just got back on this site after a long time off. changed my email addy, so if you have been trying to email me with no reply, that is the reason.

We are related, but I don't have any info on the children of the two couples, but I know that the Stringfellow sisters father was Joseph, and they lived in Shevington close to where Foxfield Garage used to be.

My uncle Harold had a cobblers and workshop built on the side of the farm where we used to live in Shevington. I actually thought that he only lost a foot, and not his leg.

Could the church be St Stephen's in Whelley? If so, I know who the people are. Can someone confirm this.

I showed the picture again to my dad and he says the people in the pic are Harold Lee on the left. His daughter Margaret (still alive). George Mcnally and his bride Kathleen. Harold's wife Ethel Stringfellow. 2 bridesmaids are Josephine (tall one) and Christine lee. Don't know who small girl at front is, or the couple at far right. Assume related to George McNally. If you have any more pics then please let me know. Scan them in and email them to me or post on here. My dad may even have attended this wedding as a young boy.
