By the medals' bar above his pocket, he'd already seen service when this was taken.
Thank you Rev David Long well spotted I hadn,t noticed that.
I remember Alma walking up and down Bolton Road, he was a kindly character and we kids loved him. Even when he was elderly he wore that old trench coat of his, he would call in the old Co-op shop were I worked for a while.
His cap badge is the Kings Regiment(Liverpool).
In 1958 the regiment amalgamated with the Manchester Regiment and became 1st Batallion The Kings Regiment (Manchester & Liverpool) A new cap badge was issued.
The period from the end of WW2 up to the amalgamation saw the Kings serving in Palestine, Germany, Korea and Hong Kong
Thanks for the information Graham I know very little about him much appreciated.
He used to work on the farms around Aspull, Johnsons farm i recall,
He was my next door neighbour when I was a kid and I remember my mum and dad looking after himuntil he went into hospital which is where he passed away.
