This is a picture i had forgotten about. It reminded me when i saw the previous picture of the tractor. We got up one morning in the five week holidays and as usual went off for the day. early morning with a butty and a bottle of water. called for my friends and that was it our mums never saw us again until dusk. We walked up the canal and ended up at Haigh Hall. i loved it up there. There was a man from the paper there and said if we all hung on the monkey bars he would take a picture of us and it would be in the paper. so hence the picture. just look at us all showing our kickers and vests and lovely pumps on. Im on the right, and my friends are Irelene and Pat Glover, we all have check pants on and the other three girls im afraid i dont know who they were. I think the year would be about 1962. that was a time when we could go off and play for the day and nobody minded.

Lovely, Brenda. I can't recognise any of the other girls, though. Perhaps someone will. It would be wonderful if they could see it and add their own memories of that day. I'll keep looking and hoping.

One could get arrested these days for taking photos of children. How times have changed. How many photos will now not be taken by people and the enjoyment of them lost to future generations. Great photo Brenda.

is it Eileen Glover (birthday Nov 8th)? Pat Glover was in my class at St Williams, As a teenager she had a horse that was kept at a farm on the left just under the railway bridge near Ince Park. When we Started work we use to travel together on a train to Manchester from Ince Station I remember Pats Dad used to give me a lift to the station in his car sometimes if they passed me in Ince Green lane.

I have not seen Pat since about 1969....if you are still in contact Brenda give her a nudge from me.
